Challenge

The key challenge was assessing and advancing opportunities for natural gas development and LNG export fromNewfoundland and Labrador’s Jeanne d’Arc Basin. This required addressing technical, economic, and infrastructure complexities while ensuring alignment with regulatory, stakeholder, and environmental requirements.

Strategy

Angler assembled a team of Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) with experience in harsh environment offshore developments  and provided advisory support across concept development, field planning, and stakeholder engagement.

Action

Angler’s role spanned technical, economic, and strategic support:

• Participated in peer and design reviews for validation of external engineering work.
• Supported concept identification, screening, and techno-economic analysis activities.
• Provided SME input relating to overall field architecture including onshore/offshore facilities, subsea gathering systems, marine / pipeline transportation, storage, and processing solutions.
• Collaboration with the local utility and EPCs on electrical power supply and integration.
• Assisted with the development of integrated schedules and cost estimates to inform future project phases.
• Supported commercial and contractual activities relating to EOI/RFP processes.
• Provided implementation support related to PM Practices including phase-gate, readiness and risk assessment processes.
• Engagement with government, regulatory bodies, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to align project direction.

Outcome

Angler’s scope provided LNG-NL with a robust foundation for advancing gas development and LNG export opportunities from the Jeanne d’Arc Basin. Through integrated technical, economic, and strategic inputs, the project delivered clarity on concept viability, economic feasibility, and development pathways. The outcomes strengthened stakeholder confidence and positioned the province as a credible future LNG export hub.
