Challenge

Harnessing the renewable energy potential of the Burin Peninsula required balancing consistent wind energy generation with the sustainable production of green fuels. The project also had to address local environmental considerations, infrastructure limitations, and the priorities of community and stakeholder groups.

Strategy

EverWind Fuels engaged Angler Solutions during the bid submission phase to strengthen its onshore wind and green fuels development plans. By leveraging Angler’s technical expertise and project management capabilities, the team worked across all aspects of early-phase concept development and stakeholder engagement, with the goal of streamlining and optimizing the project pathway.

Action

Angler’s support during the preliminary bid phase included:

• Wind farm and production facility concept design support.
• Economic modelling and associated impact/ benefits analysis.
• Marine terminal preliminary concept design.
• Evaluation and analysis of NL Hydro / NLPower grid interconnection scenarios.
• Labour capacity and domestic supply chain analysis.
• Development of a preliminary risk and opportunity register.
• Supported the execution of a MET tower installation campaign to gather essential meteorological data.

Outcome

This collaborative effort, alongside EverWind and other project partners, laid the foundation for a cohesive 3 GW wind and green fuels development. The project integrates with the Burin Peninsula’s natural and social environment, positioning the region as a cornerstone of Atlantic Canada’s renewable energy future. The work set a benchmark for sustainable, community-aligned wind and green fuel developments and established a model for future large-scale renewable initiatives.
